SCX.ai Partners With DDN to Scale Australian AI Cloud
SCX.ai has partnered with DDN to expand Australia's sovereign AI inference cloud, helping local organizations run data-intensive workloads onshore without relying on US-based hyperscalers.

On August 24, 2026, Australian sovereign infrastructure firm SCX.ai announced a partnership with data intelligence vendor DDN to expand its domestic AI inference cloud. The announcement came just three days after SCX debuted on the Australian Securities Exchange following a fully underwritten $40 million initial public offering. The company plans to use the capital to fund its infrastructure expansion, including the deployment of its Node 1 and Node 2 systems. SCX enters the market with $6.5 million in contracted annual recurring revenue as of July 2026, representing a 20.9 percent increase since May, and serves more than 400 active users.
The collaboration integrates SCX's hardware architecture with DDN's Infinia data platform. Rather than relying on traditional GPUs, SCX utilizes SambaNova SN40L AI processors. These application-specific integrated circuits run in air-cooled configurations to bypass the heavy water consumption associated with typical data centers. According to pre-listing tests, SCX's SambaNova-powered systems deliver 2.5 to 5.6 times the performance per watt of GPU-based setups during stable inference workloads. DDN's Infinia platform supports this hardware by offering sub-millisecond latency and up to 27-times faster key-value cache loading to prevent input/output bottlenecks during complex agentic tasks.
For AI developers and enterprise practitioners, this integration lowers the cost per token while keeping sensitive workloads entirely within Australia. This setup addresses data residency concerns, as US-headquartered cloud providers remain subject to the US CLOUD Act, which allows American authorities to access data stored abroad. SCX's first operational node is located at the Equinix SY5 data center in Sydney, with Node 2 scheduled to go live by the end of 2026. The expanded network will support bespoke corporate workloads and Project MAGPiE, a sovereign large language model tailored specifically for Australian cultural and commercial applications.
