Meta Releases Mac App Powered by Muse Spark

Meta has introduced a dedicated Mac application for its Meta AI assistant, integrating system-wide dictation and screen-reading capabilities. Powered by the company's Muse Spark model, the app can analyze the user's active screen to provide context-aware answers to queries. The dictation feature operates across all macOS applications, positioning Meta to compete directly with existing voice-input tools like Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue, as well as Google's recently updated Gemini app for Mac.

The desktop release coincides with a broader suite of updates tailored for business users. Merchants can link their Meta AI assistant to Facebook and Instagram accounts, Meta advertising campaigns, and Google Workspace tools including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Once connected, the assistant can extract performance insights, evaluate audience engagement metrics, and gather intelligence on competitors using public data. It can also generate spreadsheets, draft documents, and build proposal decks.

This rollout aligns with Meta's ongoing push to deploy automated customer support and operational tools across its ecosystem, including WhatsApp and Instagram. During the company's Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted a "big opportunity to sell agents to businesses and automate work on their behalf." For developers and business practitioners, this integration reduces the friction of switching between separate analytics dashboards and document editors, consolidating workflow automation directly within a single desktop interface.
