NVIDIA Partners With Lancium on Gigawatt AI Factories

On August 24, 2026, Texas energy-infrastructure firm Lancium announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA, which has taken an equity stake in the Blackstone-backed company. The collaboration establishes Lancium's campuses as deployment sites for NVIDIA's full AI factory stack. This alliance pairs Lancium's 4 gigawatts of leased capacity and over 15 gigawatts of pipeline land with NVIDIA's computing and networking technologies.

Lancium will deploy NVIDIA's DSX platform, which includes reference designs and software for AI facilities. For practitioners, the DSX MaxLPS suite uses 45-degree-Celsius liquid cooling and in-rack optimizations to run up to 40 percent more GPUs within a fixed power budget. Meanwhile, DSX Flex connects campuses to grid services, adjusting power use based on load shedding, demand response, and onsite battery or solar storage.

The deployment starts at Lancium's 1.2-gigawatt Abilene, Texas campus, the first operational Stargate site. Construction begins in the third quarter of 2026 on a 1-gigawatt campus in Childress, Texas, developed with Crusoe. Though the investment size is undisclosed, earlier reports indicated NVIDIA planned to invest up to 3 billion dollars, including an initial 2 billion dollars for a 20 percent stake at a 10-billion-dollar enterprise value, plus 1 billion dollars contingent on milestones. Lancium is backed by Blackstone, which has invested over 29 billion dollars in energy-transition equity, and holds a 600-million-dollar debt facility from October 2025.

This deal follows NVIDIA's May 2026 DSX launch with partners like CoreWeave, Crusoe, IREN, Lambda, and Nebius. NVIDIA also bought a stake in Cloverleaf Infrastructure and partnered with firms like BlackRock, Blackstone, and KKR to mobilize over 500 billion dollars for AI infrastructure. By securing physical power, NVIDIA ensures its customers can deploy hardware faster.
